The Accuracy of Subacromial Injections: A Prospective Randomized Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
Arthroscopy. 2006 Mar;22(3):277-82.33 patients with clinical signs of subacromial impingement were randomised to undergo a subacromial injection for pain management using either a posterior or anteromedial approach. The primary outcome was the accuracy of the injection based on clinical and radiographic (MRI) results. The findings based on this study indicated that subacromial injections were inaccurate regardless of infiltration method or surgeon's level of confidence.
