Steroid injection a viable treatment for adhesive capsulitis .
Manipulation or intra-articular steroids in the management of adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder? A prospective randomized trial
J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2009 May-Jun;18(3):348-5353 patients with primary adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) were randomized to manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) or steroid injection combined with shoulder distension. The most efficacious treatment for frozen shoulder is still controversial topic; therefore, this study assessed two common treatments to determine the superior treatment. The results indicated that at 2 year follow-up, there were no differences in pain and functional outcomes between the two groups. The authors advised the use of steroid injection based on these findings due to its reduced risk and economic viability.
