2018 SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress: A COMPARISON OF PATELLA RESURFACING VERSUS RETENTION IN TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY FOR PATIENT SATISFACTION AND PATELLAR CREPITUS AFTER SURGERY

63 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to either patellar resurfacing or patellar retention. The purpose of this study was to compare rates of patellar crepitus, functional outcome, and patient satisfaction between groups over short-term follow-up. Mean follow-up was 8.68 months postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in either rate of patellar crepitus, function through the Knee Society Score, function through the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, or patient satisfaction.
