SICOT 2023: Closed Reduction & Percutaneous Pinning Vs Open Reduction & Internal Fixation .
Randomized trial assessing the functional outcome of close reduction and percutaneous pinning versus open reduction and internal fixation in children with type II lateral condyle humerus fracture
60 pediatric patients with type II lateral condyle humerus fractures were randomized to receive either closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (CRPP; n=30) or open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF; n=30). The modified Aggarwal criteria was used to assess functional outcomes at 2 months. Despite significantly more CRPP patients reporting excellent functional outcomes, no statistically significant differences in functional outcomes were observed between the two groups.
