2023 SICOT Annual Meeting: Adductor Canal Block Versus Femoral Nerve Block for Postoperative Pain Control and Early Functional Recovery in Arthroscopic Knee Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials

OE Journal. 2023;11(22):1210 randomized controlled trials comparing adductor canal blocks (ACB) against femoral nerve blocks (FNB) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included pain at rest and during activity on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), total opioid consumption, and quadriceps muscle strength, 24 hours following surgery. The results of this meta-analysis showed that VAS pain scores at rest and with activity favored ACB, whereas there were no differences between ACB and FNB with regard to opioid consumption and quadriceps muscle strength.
