Does a 'firebreak' full-thickness skin graft prevent recurrence after surgery for Dupuytren's contracture?: A prospective, randomised trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(5):42 J Bone Joint Surg Br. 2009 Mar;91(3):374-879 patients with Dupuytren's contracture of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) were randomized to undergo either fasciectomy with Z-plasty or dermofasciectomy with a firebreak full-thickness skin autograft. The results from this study indicated that both procedures provided significant improvements in range of motion and grip strength. However, the use of the firebreak full-thickness skin autograft did not provide a reduction in recurrence rates.
