Radial nerve mobilisation had bilateral sensory effects in people with thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis: a randomised trial

60 patients were randomized to receive treatment for thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) osteoarthritis (OA) with a radial nerve slider technique or a sham treatment of sub-therapeutic ultrasound, in order to measure the effects on pain sensitivity in the unaffected hand. Following assessments over a 2 month period, results exhibited that patients who received treatment with the radial nerve slider technique on the hand with thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis experienced an increase in pressure pain thresholds in the unaffected hand that was not treated.
