Chronic plantar fasciitis treated with two sessions of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy

50 adult patients with unilateral chronic symptomatic plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive either a radial extra-corporeal shock wave therapy (RSWT) for two sessions spaced a week apart or placebo therapy. It was observed that RSWT resulted in significantly reduced pain as compared to placebo treatment measured at 4, 12 and 24 weeks after treatment.
