20 patients randomized to receive an ACL reconstruction alone or with a concomitant lateral extraarticular tenodesis (LET) procedure were assessed for pre-operative quantitative pivot shift (QPS) and post-operative knee kinematics. The correlation between QPS and knee kinematics was calculated to assess the potential of QPS for informing treatment decision-making, and whether an ACL reconstruction should be accompanied by a concomitant LET. The results of this study found that while QPS was associated with knee kinematics in the healthy limb at 12 months, no correlation was observed between pre-operative QPS and knee kinematics in the operated knee, in both groups. This suggests that post-ACL reconstruction knee kinematics are likely influenced by other factors.
