Functional outcome of PFC Sigma fixed and rotating-platform total knee arthroplasty: A prospective randomized controlled trial

Epub 2009 Nov 8.120 patients scheduled to undergo primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to the use of PFC sigma fixed bearing or a rotating platform implant for their procedure. It can be concluded from this study that choosing either the fixed-bearing or rotating-bearing design of the PFC Sigma knee replacement system did not produce a statistically significant difference at 1 year in the functional outcomes and overall survivorship.
