Functional outcome of PFC Sigma fixed and rotating-platform total knee arthroplasty: A prospective randomized controlled trial
Int Orthop. 2010 Mar;34(3):349-54. Epub 2009 Nov 8.120 patients scheduled to undergo primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to the use of PFC sigma fixed bearing or a rotating platform implant for their procedure. It can be concluded from this study that choosing either the fixed-bearing or rotating-bearing design of the PFC Sigma knee replacement system did not produce a statistically significant difference at 1 year in the functional outcomes and overall survivorship.
