No Benefit of Patient-specific Instrumentation in TKA on Functional and Gait Outcomes: A Randomized Clinical Trial

OE Journal. 2014;2(20):10 Clin Orthop Relat Res. 2014 Aug;472(8):2468-7640 patients suffering from severe knee arthritis were randomized to undergo unilateral primary total knee arthroplasty using either patient-specific or conventional instrumentation, with the purpose of comparing gait and functional outcomes between treatment groups. Results revealed patient-specific instrumentation does not offer a significant advantage over conventional instrumentation with respect to functional (KSS, KOOS, SF-12) or gait outcomes at 3 months postoperative.
