Patient-specific instrumentation does not shorten surgical time: a prospective, randomized trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(18):7 J Arthroplasty. 2013 Sep;28(8 Suppl):96-10052 patients underwent total knee replacement with a traditional implant or a patient specific implant, created prior to the surgery, to determine whether patient specific implants could decrease surgery time and, therefore, increase the efficiency of knee arthroplasty. The total mean operating time of the specific implant was not shorter than the traditional knee implantation and did not provide any additional clinical benefits to the patients.
