Acta Orthop . 2022 Apr 12;93:424-431.Seventy patients who are undergoing ankle fracture surgery and drink at least 21 drinks per week were randomized to either the Gold Standard Program (GSP-A) arm which consisted of a manual-based 6-week program that aimed for complete alcohol abstinence (n=35) or the control group (n=33). The primary outcome of this trial was to determine if there were any post-operative complications. The results showed no significant differences in the rate of complications between the two treatment arms at 6 weeks and 12 months.
