2018 OTA Annual Meeting: Physiotherapy, Advice Sheet, or Video Following Nonoperatively Managed Distal Radius Fractures: A Randomized Controlled Trial

120 patients with a distal radius fracture and managed nonoperatively were randomized to three different modes of delivery for physical therapy: in-person physiotherapy, video, or an instructional leaflet. Patients were assessed for functional outcome after 6 weeks. The only significant function difference observed between any of the three groups was work-specific disability on the Disability of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand score, favoured in the in-person physiotherapy group compared to the leaflet group. Nonetheless, overall DASH score, range of motion, and Euro-QoL 5 Dimensions scores did not significantly differ between groups after 6 weeks.
