No Effect of Oral Mecobalamin on Skin Numbness at 3 Months After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized, Double-Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Superiority Trial.

One hundred and fifty four patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive mecobalamin (n=77) or placebo (n=77). The primary outcome of interest was the change in area of numbness around the surgical site from 2 weeks to 3 months following TKA. Secondary outcomes included the rates of different adverse events, functional outcomes measured by the modified Knee Society Clinical Rating System, and patient satisfaction scores. There was no significant differences in any outcome at 2 weeks or 3 months postoperatively.
