A prospective study of 3-day versus 2-week immobilization period after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

30 patients were randomized to undergo two different rehabilitation periods after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using the multistranded hamstring. 15 patients postoperatively underwent a 3-day immobilization period and 15 patients underwent a 2-week immobilization period. Results showed that there were no significant differences between two groups at the 12 month follow-up, but the 3-day period may be preferred to reduce the duration of hospitalization and psychological load on patients.
