A prospective study of 3-day versus 2-week immobilization period after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
Knee. 2007 Jan;14(1):34-8. Epub 2006 Nov 28.30 patients were randomized to undergo two different rehabilitation periods after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using the multistranded hamstring. 15 patients postoperatively underwent a 3-day immobilization period and 15 patients underwent a 2-week immobilization period. Results showed that there were no significant differences between two groups at the 12 month follow-up, but the 3-day period may be preferred to reduce the duration of hospitalization and psychological load on patients.
