Sixty patients scheduled for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction for the treatment of an ACL tear were randomized to receive an intra-operative intra-articular injection of tranexamic acid (TXA) or no treatment. The primary outcome of interest was blood loss, calculated using hemoglobin levels. Secondary outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), patellar circumference, range of motion and hemoglobin levels. No significant differences in all outcomes, at all time-points were observed between the TXA and control groups.
