Safety of intravenous tranexamic acid in patients undergoing major orthopaedic surgery: a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

OE Journal. 2019;7(3):22 Blood Transfus. 2018 Jan;16(1):36-4373 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis investigating the incidence of venous thromboembolic complications between patients administered intravenous tranexamic acid and patients who were not administered TXA. Meta-analysis demonstrated no significant difference between IV TXA groups and control groups in the incidence of VTE complications, which were estimated at 2.1% and 2.0% for each group, respectively.
