The effects of injecting intra-articular platelet-rich plasma or prolotherapy on pain score and function in knee osteoarthritis
Clin Interv Aging. 2018 Jan 4;13:73-79.42 patients with Kellgren-Lawrence grade I-II knee osteoarthritis were randomized to treatment with either intra-articular platelet-rich plasma injection or intra-articular prolotherapy. Patients were assessed for patient-reported pain, function, and stiffness on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index at 1, 2, and 6-month follow-up. Results demonstrated significant differences in favour of the PRP group compared to the PRL group at 2 and 6 months in the WOMAC pain and function scores.
