The use of graduated compression stockings in association with fondaparinux in surgery of the hip. A multicentre, multinational, randomised, open-label, parallel-group comparative study

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):83 J Bone Joint Surg Br. 2007 Jul;89(7):887-92856 patients that had undergone hip surgery were randomized to either receive a combination of fondaparinux and graduated compression stockings or just fondaparinux alone, as thromboprophylaxis. The results at the 42 day follow up period indicated that the use of compression stockings in addition to fondaparinux did not improve the effectiveness of anticoagulation in comparison to just the use of fondaparinux alone.
