Neuromuscular Training + Strength Training for Patellofemoral Pain in Women .
Adding neuromuscular training to a strengthening program did not produce additional improvement in clinical or kinematic outcomes in women with patellofemoral pain: A blinded randomised controlled trial.
Musculoskelet Sci Pract. 2023 Feb;63:102720.71 women with patellofemoral pain were randomized to receive a strength training program (n=36) or strength training plus neuromuscular training (n=25) for 3 months. The primary outcomes of interest were pain, function, and knee kinematics. The secondary outcome of interest was muscular strength and patient satisfaction. Outcomes were assessed after the completion of the 3-month treatment plan. Whilst improvements were observed in pain, function, and muscular strength over time in both groups, no group differences were observed between the two groups in all primary and secondary outcomes.
