The effects of Pilates exercise in comparison to other forms of exercise on pain and disability in individuals with chronic non-specific low back pain: A systematic review with meta-analysis.
Musculoskeletal Care . 2023 Mar;21(1):78-96.In this meta-analysis, eleven randomized controlled trials comparing the efficacy of pilates exercise on pain and disability against other forms of exercise in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain were assessed. Outcomes of interest were pain and function. Subgroup analyses of general exercise and direction-specific exercise on pain favored the pilates group whereas, no differences were apparent between groups when considering spinal stabilization exercises for pain. Additionally, both groups were similar in normalized function for all subgroup analyses.
