NeuFlex and Swanson Metacarpophalangeal Implants for Rheumatoid Arthritis: Prospective Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(10):21 J Hand Surg Am. 2010 Jan;35(1):44-5133 patients (age range 39-80) presenting with rheumatoid arthritis affecting (40 hands) were randomized to be managed with metacarpophalangeal joint (MCP) replacement with either NeuFlex or Swanson MCP implants. Both implants resulted in clinically satisfactory improvement in patients with rheumatoid arthritis; however, the NeuFlex implant offered better range of motion and the Swanson implant was liked better by patients for self reported function and aesthetics.
