Short-term effects of kinesio taping versus cervical thrust manipulation in patients with mechanical neck pain: a randomized clinical trial
J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2012 Aug;42(8):724-30. doi: 10.2519/jospt.2012.4086. Epub 2012 Apr 2080 patients who required treatment for mechanical neck pain were randomized to receive conventional cervical thrust manipulation or Kinesio Taping to determine their effects on short-term pain, disability, and cervical range of motion (CROM). Numeric pain rating scale (NPRS), Neck Disability Index (NDI), and goniometric CROM analysis were assessed one week postintervention. The results indicated both groups illustrated improvements in pain; however improvements of disability were not above the criteria for minimal clinically important difference. Furthermore, there were no clinically relevant differences between groups.
