Comparison of muscle energy technique and facet joint mobilisation in the patient with chronic neck pain: A randomized controlled trial.

105 patients with chronic neck pain were assigned to receive either muscle energy techniques (MET; n=35), facet joint mobilization (FJM; n=35), or conventional physical therapy (CPT; n=35). The primary outcome measured was the reduction in neck pain, while secondary outcomes included improvements in disability, cervical lordosis, and range of motion (ROM). Assessments were conducted at baseline, two weeks, and four weeks post-intervention. Overall, the results revealed significant improvements in pain, disability, and ROM in both MET and FJM groups compared to the CPT group, with MET showing superior outcomes in certain ROM parameters. The study suggests that MET and FJM are effective in managing chronic neck pain, with potential for improved patient outcomes compared to conventional therapy.
