The effectiveness of a manual therapy and exercise protocol in patients with thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(4):38 J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2013;43(4):204-13. doi: 10.2519/jospt.2013.4524. Epub 2013 Mar 1360 patients with thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive multimodal manual therapy or a sham treatment, in order to determine the efficacy of manual therapy on pain management. Following evaluations over a 2 month period, results exhibited that patients who received multimodal manual therapy experienced greater reductions in pain in comparison to those who underwent the sham treatment.
