Efficacy of modified-release versus standard prednisone to reduce duration of morning stiffness of the joints in rheumatoid arthritis (CAPRA-1): A double-blind, randomised controlled trial
Lancet. 2008 Jan 19;371(9608):205-14.288 patients, between the age of 18 to 80, with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were randomly assigned to be administered either a modified-release prednisone tablet or an immediate-release prednisone tablet. Modified-release prednisone was a safe and well tolerated drug that produced a clinically relevant reduction of morning stiffness of the joints. In addition, it provided well known therapeutic effects of immediate-release prednisone, with a convenient and more physiological dosage administration.
