The effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention on physical function in individuals with chronic low back pain: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Complement Ther Clin Pract. 2022 Nov;49: 101623.Three randomized controlled trials with a total of 602 patients with chronic low back pain were included in this meta-analysis comparing mindfulness-based stress reduction interventions with control (health education; cognitive behavioural therapy; usual care; no treatment). The primary outcome of interest was pooled physical function, measured with the Roland and Morris Questionnaire. Outcomes were pooled at 8 weeks and 6 months follow-up. Results revealed significantly better pooled physical function scores at 8 weeks in the mindfulness group; no differences were observed in pooled physical function at 6 months.
