Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) for alcoholism: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
J Psychopharmacol. 2012 23-Feb;():. 10.1177/0269881112439253Six randomized-controlled trials including a total of 536 patients admitted to alcohol-focused treatment programs were included in this meta-analysis comparing the treatment of alcoholism using a single oral dose of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) to any control, including the use of active control up to 50mcg of LSD. The primary outcome was alcohol misuse as systematically measured by interview or self-report at the first reported follow-up. A single dose of LSD had a significant beneficial effect on alcohol misuse at the first reported follow-up assessment.
