LSD-assisted psychotherapy for anxiety associated with a life-threatening disease: a qualitative study of acute and sustained subjective effects

10 patients with anxiety associated to a life-threatening disease underwent LSD-assisted psychotherapy in a previous study, this study examines the patients at 12 months follow-up. Patients were evaluated using the State Trait Anxiety inventory (STAI) and an interview. The acute beneficial effects on anxiety according to the original trial were maintained over 12 months, including a reduction in anxiety and an increase in quality of life. No lasting adverse events were reported. LSD administered with psychotherapy can be safe and result in lasting beneficial effects to anxiety and quality of life in patients with life-threatening disease.
