The role of platelet rich plasma in management of fracture neck femur: new insights

OE Journal. 2016;4(15):30 Int Orthop. 2016 May;40(5):1019-2460 younger patients (20-45 years old) with a femoral neck fracture and scheduled for internal fixation with cannulated screws were randomized to fixation with or without platelet-rich plasma (PRP) augmentation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate if PRP administration within the cannulated screws was associated with a reduction in the incidence of fixation failure and nonunion. Results demonstrated a significantly lower incidence of nonunion in the PRP group compared to the control group.
