Comparison of Graft Failure Rate Between Autografts Placed via an Anatomic Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Technique: A Systematic Review, Meta-analysis, and Meta-regression
Am J Sports Med. 2016 Apr;44(4):1069-7928 studies were included in this analysis with 6 studies reporting patellar tendon autografts and 26 studies reporting hamstring tendon autografts. The purpose of this systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression was to assess the available literature of patellar tendon versus hamstring tendon autografts for graft failure rates in anatomic ACL reconstruction. A meta-analysis was conducted to pool four included studies that directly compared outcomes between patellar tendon and hamstring tendon autografts. Results indicated that patellar tendon and hamstring tendon autografts were similar in graft failure rates.
