Early Functional Treatment Versus Cast Immobilization in Tension After Achilles Rupture Repair: Results of a Prospective Randomized Trial With 10 or More Years of Follow-up
Am J Sports Med. 2015 Sep;43(9):2302-950 patients scheduled for Achilles tendon repair were randomized to immediate mobilization following surgery, or 6-week immobilization postoperatively. The purpose of this study was to compare clinical outcome, and isokinetic and isometric strength recovery over 11 years follow-up. The Lepphilahti score was used as the clinical outcome measure in this study. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in any outcome of interest over the follow-up period.
