The addition of structured lifestyle modifications to a traditional exercise program for the management of patients with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised trials.
Musculoskelet Sci Pract . 2023 Nov:68:102858.Seven randomized controlled trials (2270 patients) comparing a lifestyle modification to a traditional exercise program against a traditional exercise program alone for knee osteoarthritis were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included Normalized Pain Scale (NPS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) stiffness, quality of life, and Timed Up and Go (TUG) test. All outcomes favored the lifestyle modification exercise group compared to the traditional exercise group except for quality of life at 3 months.
