Lateral Pinning Versus Cross-Pinning for Supracondylar Humerus Fractures in Pediatric Patients .
Comparative analysis of pinning techniques for supracondylar humerus fractures in paediatrics: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
J Orthop . 2023 Aug 16:44:5-11.22 randomized controlled trials (1502 patients) that compared lateral pinning against cross-pinning for supracondylar humerus fractures (SCHF) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included loss of Baumann's angle, Flynn criteria, incidence of ulnar nerve injury, pin tract infection, and loss of carrying angle. All outcomes were similar among the two treatment options with the exception of the incidence of ulnar nerve injury which was higher in the lateral pin group.
