Knee Immobilization for Pain Control After a Hamstring Tendon Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

OE Journal. 2013;1(5):82 Am J Sports Med. 2009 Jan;37(1):56-64. Epub 2008 Sep 1888 patients who underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using hamstring tendons were randomized to post-operative management with either mobilization or immobilization of the knee. Assessment 2 days post-operatively indicated that knee immobilization did not provide a reduction in Visual Analog Scale pain when compared to the mobile group. These results were accompanied by a similar amount of analgesic consumption in both groups.
