Kinesio Taping Increases Peak Torque of Quadriceps Muscle After Arthroscopic Meniscectomy, Double-Blinded RCT.
Int J Gen Med. 2024 01-May;():. 10.2147/IJGM.S463753Forty patients who underwent arthroscopic partial meniscectomy were randomized to receive either Kinesio taping (n=20) or placebo taping (n=20). The primary outcome measured was the peak torque of the quadriceps muscle at angular velocities of 60°/sec and 180°/sec using a Biodex isokinetic dynamometer. Outcomes were assessed immediately after a 10-minute application of taping. Overall, the results demonstrated a significant improvement in quadriceps peak torque in the Kinesio taping group compared to the placebo group at both velocities (p<0.001). The findings suggest that Kinesio taping offers immediate functional benefits for quadriceps strength after meniscectomy.
