Intra-articular Corticosteroid Injection Compared with Single-Shot Hyaluronic Acid for Treatment of Osteoarthritis Knee: A Prospective, Double-blind Randomized Controlled Trial
100 elderly knee osteoarthritis patients were randomized to either a single shot of hyaluronic acid or a single shot of corticosteroid injection. 6 month comparison of both treatments in terms of pain and functional improvements, measured by Visual Analogue scale, range of motion and Western Ontario McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index demonstrated no differences between two injections.
