OE Journal. 2013;1(6):45To investigate the use of matrix-induced autologous implant (MACI) in treatment of symptomatic articular cartilage defects of the knee, the phase 3 of the SUMMIT trial randomised 144 patients to either matrix-induced autologous implant (MACI) or microfracture group. At a 2 year follow up, MACI group demonstrated significantly better pain and functional outcomes with no adverse events.
