2015 10th Biennial ISAKOS Congress : Endoscopic Release is at Least as Safe as Conventional Open for the Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials

OE Journal. 2015;3(12):1627 studies were included in a meta-analysis comparing open carpal tunnel release (OCTR) and endoscopic carpal tunnel reduction (ECTR). The purpose of this study was to shed light on the comparative safety of the alternate ECTR method with the conventional OCTR for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Results demonstrated that ECTR had a faster return to work by 10 days and a lower minor complication rate. No significant differences were observed for major complication rate, recurrence rate, and reoperation rate.
