2015 10th Biennial ISAKOS Congress : Patellar Tendon Vs. Hamstrings in ACL Reconstruction: Ten Year Follow-Up Prospective Randomized Study

OE Journal. 2015;3(12):42108 patients undergoing single bundle, single tunnel reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) were randomized to one of three groups: a bone-patellar tendon-bone (B-PT-B) group, a hamstring graft group with EndoButtom CL femoral fixation and resorbable interference screw tibial fixation, or a hamstring graft group with EndoButton CL femoral fixation and Evolgate tibial fixation. The purpose of the study was to compare the long term outcomes of the reconstruction techniques. It was demonstrated that, while functional outcomes were similar, tunnel enlargement was more pronounced in the hamstring groups, and joint space narrowing was more pronounced in the B-PT- B group.
