Pre-Operative Femoral Nerve Block for Hip Arthroscopy: A Randomized Triple-Masked Controlled Trial
50 patients undergoing hip arthroscopy were randomized to received either a preoperative ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block (FNB) with 20 mL of 0.5% bupivacaine or normal saline. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of preoperative FNB on patients undergoing hip arthroscopy. Findings demonstrated that preoperative FNB may improve postoperative pain control, although due to a high risk of falls rate, was not recommended for outpatient hip arthroscopy.
