Inclusion of the fracture level in short segment fixation of thoracolumbar fractures
Eur Spine J. 2010 Oct;19(10):1651-6. Epub 2010 May 21.80 patients with fractures occurring between T12 and L2, planned to be treated with posterior fusion and instrumentation, were randomized to 2 surgical techniques: one with exclusion of the fractured vertebra and another with inclusion of the fractured vertebra. At 6 month follow up, the inclusion of the fracture level in short segment fixation of thoracolumbar fractures was noted to have better kyphosis corrections than the bridging group.
