Impact of home-based exercise and clinic-based physiotherapy on mobility status of patients undergoing total knee replacement: A randomized clinical trial.

80 patients undergoing total knee replacement for knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either a home-based exercise program or clinic-based physiotherapy. The outcome of interest was functional mobility assessed using the Lysholm Knee Scale. Outcomes were assessed before surgery and after a four-week rehabilitation program. Overall, the results of the study revealed that both groups experienced significant improvements in functional mobility following rehabilitation, with no significant difference between home-based exercise and clinic-based physiotherapy. These findings suggest that structured home-based rehabilitation may provide comparable short-term mobility outcomes to clinic-based physiotherapy after total knee replacement.
