High- versus Low-dose Steroid Injection for Adhesive Capsulitis (Frozen Shoulder): A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Pain Physician . 2023 Sep;26(5):437-447.Four randomized controlled trials (274 patients) comparing high- versus low-dose steroid injections for adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included pain on a Normalized Pain Scale, shoulder range of motion (ROM), and function on a Normalized Function Scale. All outcomes were similar between the low- and high-dose steroid injection groups at all time points. The results of this meta-analysis showed that there were no additional benefits of using high-dose steroid injections for adhesive capsulitis compared to a low-dose steroid injection.
