Vibration Therapy for Chronic Low Back Pain: A Meta-Analysis .
Vibration therapy to improve pain and function in patients with chronic low back pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
J Orthop Surg Res . 2023 Sep 26;18(1):727.14 randomized controlled trials (860 patients) comparing vibration therapy against control in patients with chronic low back pain were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included pain on a Normalized Pain Scale, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ). A subgroup analysis was also conducted to assess the different types of vibrational therapy used in the included studies (whole-body vibration and local vibration). All outcomes favored the vibration therapy group except for the subgroup analysis ODI scores of local vibrational therapy which was similar between the two groups. The results of this meta-analysis suggest that vibrational therapy may provide better pain and functional outcomes over a control for chronic low back pain.
