Evaluation the results of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with or without using antibiotic solution during graft preparation.

80 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) were randomized to receive either a graft with (n=40) or without (n=40) antibiotic (vancomycin) solution. The graft was placed in the antibiotic solution prior to implantation. The outcomes of interest were knee swelling, pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), function on a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and the incidence of infection, positive Lachman test, positive anterior drawer test, positive pivot-shift test, range of motion deficit, and flexion and extension deficit. All outcomes were comparable between the vancomycin versus no vancomycin groups.
