47 patients with a diaphyseal fracture of the humeral shaft were randomized to receive one of two procedures for the treatment. The intervention group underwent internal fixation by intramedullary nail (IMN) while the control group underwent the dynamic compression plate (DCP) procedure. Results indicated that the intervention group had a faster union time and lower risk of serious complications such as infection, but both groups had comparable rates of union and functional outcomes.
